Steve's JOGLE 4 Cynthia

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This story starts a few years ago when I sadly watched a good friend and colleague fade away over the course of a year. We were both guys with ambitions to fly commercially. We met during the initial course for the same Airline and became and stayed friends over the duration of our careers.
Sadly Richard was diagnosed with cancer. All that ambition and then …. a massive change of perspective. What can you say and do for a friend when faced with this. I felt pretty useless but what you can do is be there. Be available for that chat. Take time out to go and do or visit something interesting. I spoke to Richard the week he slipped away. A true Gent to the last.
So now I recently turned 57 with a waist line I would rather not be reminded of and a daughter who cheerily reminded me, “Not to worry Dad you’re only half way to 114 :)”
Time to do something positive, something different, make a change and maybe help some folks along the way. Is this a belated Mid Life Crisis? No just a bit of a moment!
I thought I might pop out for a bike ride and raise a pound a mile for a good cause. I plan to use my summer leave in June to cycle the 1000 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End and try and raise some funds for The Cynthia Spencer Hospice. It is a fabulous place that is totally committed to caring for people and their relatives in difficult times.
If you think this is a worthy cause and would like to contribute then of course your donation will be very much appreciated thank you.
If you would like to know more about the ride or in fact can help with any ideas or tips for the route, preparation, must see places etc etc. Please visit:
