This campaign will celebrate the fundraising achievements of all participants taking part in Lap of Anglia 2022.

Story

I am cycling the Lap of Anglia and Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for East Anglian Air Ambulance which exists to save lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people in the region. They are a life-saving charity that is only kept airborne through charitable donations. Details of each event are below.

Lap of Anglia (17-20 August): three cities, five counties and half the height of Everest. It is a 435mile lap round East Anglia over 4 days starting and finishing in Norwich. Total climbing is 14,167ft/4,318m

Lands End to John O'Groats (10-18 September): known as LEJOG, it is the iconic end to end challenge from the the most westerly point of mainland England to the northeastern tip of Scotland.  I am taking part in the Ride Across Britain which is 969 miles over 9 days.  Total climbing is 52,507ft/16,008m, almost twice the height of Everest.

I was 60 in February and decided to make 2022 a truly memorable year of cycling to celebrate.  LEJOG has been on my bucket list for a while and I decided to do the Lap of Anglia as a follow on from my 200 mile cycle round the Norfolk border in 2021. Each of these events is a daunting prospect and it will take all of my physical and psychological resources to complete them successfully.  As with pretty much every challenge I have done I am spurred on by the thought of raising money for an amazing charity. This year I am supporting the East Anglia Air Ambulance, a fantastic charity that provides an essential emergency service to the people of East Anglia which has been my home for the last couple of years.  Incredibly, they receive no regular government funding and rely on the community to keep their two helicopters flying and saving lives.  I hope you are able to support me by donating to EAAA.

Thank you
