The great rugby cycle · 1 July 2021

The Great Rugby Cycle 2021 will cover over 1000 miles in an anti-clockwise direction around Ireland in eleven days. The peloton will be joined along the route by rugby legends, sporting stars and celebrities, raising funds for MN5DF.

Story

I had the privilege of playing with, against and touring New Zealand with Doddie.
In recent years I sadly learned of others, including friends and family suffering from and dealing with MND.
On behalf of Doddie and others I am dragging my 15 1/2 stone round the roads and up the mountains of Ireland over 10 days (1000+ miles) in helping to raise awareness and funds for MND research. It is a privilege to be part of this peloton and no doubt a painful challenge!!!

The Inaugural Great Rugby Cycle 2019 covered 1133 miles in March 2019 from John OGroats to Lands End in support of the My Name5 Doddie Foundation. As a warm-up to the 2020 event, some of the group who took part in the John OGroats challenge, cycled the length of Ireland from Mizen Head to Malin Head (370 miles) in 36 hours. The Great Rugby Cycle 2021 will cover over 1000 miles in an anti-clockwise direction around Ireland in eleven days, taking in some of the finest scenery Ireland has to offer. The peloton will be joined along the route by rugby legends, sporting stars and celebrities from TV and Film to raise awareness and funds for the My Name5 Doddie Foundation.
