Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

Hello, my name is May Harbison

When I was born I was 9 weeks early and weighed 3lb 7oz. This gave my mummy and daddy a terrible fright but thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Special Care Baby Units at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton I am now 8 years, 7 months and 2 weeks old. I'm big and strong and very, very, very chatty. I have a little brother called Tom who is six and a teddy called Teddy.

In April, my daddy has decided to run something called the London Marathon. This is a running race that is 26.2 miles long (I dont know what the .2 stands for but he told me to write that). He says it's his second one and he's not that worried about it, but every time he mentions it, he goes a little bit pale and looks very scared.

He's doing this to raise money for a charity called Bliss, they help special babies like me recover and help their mummies and daddies cope.

He will be running the race dressed as Superman, which is a bit weird. I asked him if he could just fly but he said that wouldn't really be fair on the other people.

Please sponsor my daddy, he said this will be his last marathon and he definitely wont be asking for any more money for a little while at least.

Lots of love

May
