Story

Stickaid 2009 Press Release

On Saturday August 15th this year, British vlogger "Myles Dyer" (AKA Blade376), will be attempting his fourth 24 hour live web cam chat, which will broadcast to the world to raise money for the commendable charity UNICEF.

“Stickaid 2009” will take place on August 15th between 9am BST/1am PDT, and August 16th at 9am 9am BST/1am PDT@ http://www.stickam.com/blade376

The event will be taking place on ‘Stickam.com’, one of the world’s leading online broadcasting networks.  People from all over the world, from all walks of life can simply create an account and instantly broadcast via web cam themselves across the internet.

This will be the fourth STICKAID; an event that has already raised over £6250 (including gift aid + supplements) in its first 3 years for the charity UNICEF. Millions have tuned in to this event so far, and exposure will continue to grow into this year’s event. Every year has been about enhancing the STICKAID experience, to encourage more people to get involved, and once again, Myles believes he has done it. Along side him this year is his friend Tom Bacon who will integrate special studio equipment to give the show a more professional feel.

“Deciding on a target has always been one of the biggest challenges with the STICKAID events” Myles Dyer explains. “If you set the target too ‘safe’, then of course it will be met quickly, but then people no longer feel the need to contribute and all is considered done. However last year we were overly ambitious with a goal of £10,000. Over the course of the event it became apparent that we would not achieve anywhere near the goal, especially with the current economic climate. When hosting 24hour non-stop chat, you really need to believe throughout that you have set an achievable goal.”

With all this in mind, the target has been set at £5,856 – but why such a specific value. Co-organiser Tom Bacon explains “The target set is actually the sum of all donations raised from previous StickAID events.  We have gone really ambitious this year with the plans for the show, and hopefully a higher quality 24 hour-chat event will help us reach the target.”

Myles says “There are some people who are unable to donate for many reasons, and that doesn’t matter. You can still be a part of making this a successful event, in helping UNICEF.  Promote the event to everyone you know either in person, or across the internet using the vast numbers of social networking sites. Or perhaps you’d like to join in with the various activities that will be going on in the chatroom itself for some or all of the 24hours!”

Myles can be contacted prior to the event by email: if there are any comments or questions. His email is Stickaid2009@gmail.com - MAKE SURE THE SUBJECT IS "STICKAID2009", so he can put it to the front of his agenda!
