Story
St John's is delighted to support the work of Noah's Ark Children's hospice for our Christmas appeal. One our members, Gill Hutley, has been closely involved with the hospice and she writes:
I have been lucky enough to have been a Noah’s Ark volunteer for 6 years now, and it’s been a real privilege to have witnessed their journey from a small office behind Barnet High Street to a beautiful new hospice building opened in 2019 set in a 7.5 acre nature reserve.
I could talk for hours about all the amazing facilities the Ark offers, and tell you about the wide range of support they offer to children with life limiting conditions and their families – and I would urge you to look at Noah’s Ark website to find out more about all the fantastic work they do.
But, for me, I can sum up Noah’s Ark in one word – happiness. The Ark is a happy place, full of laughter, fun, and optimism. It is a place where every moment is treasured and enjoyed. Each member of staff is dedicated to making sure that all the children that come into the Ark get to make the most out of every moment, and create some really special memories. Covid, as you can imagine, has been a really tough time for the Ark. Their services were needed more than ever, and they stepped up to help out a struggling NHS to support children and families throughout North London and Hertfordshire. Their fundraising efforts were hampered by the pandemic, and they are doing everything they can to keep their doors open.
Noah’s Ark need your help! St John’s have been an amazing ally of Noah’s Ark in the past, and I have seen first-hand the positive difference even the smallest donation can make. Please give what you can, so that this wonderful hospice can carry on helping children who are seriously unwell make the most of every day.
