Story

Christian Aid week 2023 is over

Our St John's Christian Aid  coffee morning raised about £400 thanks to your generosity.

On 27th May St Johns United Reformed Church finished walking the ANGEL WAY from Newcastle to Durham led by John and Ron.

Big thankyou to all who have sponsored us via this site, our old Just giving site ,and our new Christian Aid e-envelope..see below

About £400 has come in  through online donations.. So altogether we are very near our target for this year.

That is brilliant. Thankyou for your support.

Lat year we raised £700 for the poorest people of the world. We've beaten that ..

Can we do even better?

There is still time to sponsor us or make a donation. The page will be open for a few weeks more

Note.Sorry it has been complicated! .We have two 'just giving pages' ..the one you are on here, .and our other page 'Ron Forster' St John's Wideopen  2023 Christian Aid Walk'

(That's because we have revived 2 old paged you may already have links to)

You can give to either page..Christian Aid will get the money and  St John's  will see all the money we raise!

We also opened a Christian Aid  e-enveope..a button on our church website which can be clicked to make donations.

The 2023 Christian Aid week campaign focuses on Esther and Jen -pigeon pea farmers in Malawi- trying to raise crops that will feed their families and generate enough income for the basics of life, healthcare , education for their children.

With support from Christian Aid they can -purchase specially bred drought resistant seed to for crops tolerant of flood and drought caused by climate changed weather challenges,- mill flour and bake bread to sell locally, -develop  cooperative fairer trading organisations, -build storerooms to preserve food and seed for next year, and generate income to send their children to school and college, investing in the whole community's future.

Please give today and help families on the brink of hunger to provide food and opportunites for their families and communities
