Story

Mr Stangroom is fundraising for a little boy who lives in his village and attends the same school as his son.  Oliver is in year 1 and is a happy, cheeky and brave little boy who loves Lego, steam trains and Thomas the Tank Engine. But Oliver was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in 2016 (at the age of 3) and after beating the disease and starting school, he devastatingly relapsed in January 2018 and his chances of survival dropped to less than 10%. He has already been through so much treatment, including being in hospital for 3-months straight. His family is now fundraising to access treatment not available on the NHS, to give him the best possible chance of life.

Oliver’s family are working tirelessly, in partnership with the charity ‘Solving Kids Cancer’, to raise funds in order for him to receive treatment which is not available in this country. The first phase is to have immunotherapy treatment in Barcelona costing £203k and takes 6-8 months. This money needs to be raised by the end of December so he can go there in the New Year. Following this, the second phase will be in the USA and would bring the total cost to approximately £500,000.

The St. Mary's Shave Off for Oliver Warner is our school's way of showing support in the wider community and helping a little boy who just wants the chance to do what every other 5 year old does: go to school, birthday parties and play with his friends.

We appreciate that this is an expensive time of year for parents but please, if you are able to, help us to make this the best Christmas present ever for Oliver and his family.
