Bupa Great Manchester Run 2014 · 18 May 2014 ·

We provide a range of youth groups, one-to-one friendships, holiday activities and support to help disabled children and young people and their families across Cheshire East enjoy life to the fullest.

Story

UPDATE: Well, we did it! It was a fantastic - if a little hot (24 degrees!) - day, but we got around the course in a respectable 1 hr 38 mins 13 seconds, with all 3 of us crossing the finish line with exactly the same time (quite how Grace feels about that remains to be seen...).

I couldn't be more proud of my wonderful sisters and, from the three of us, I would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has sponsored us. We have been overwhelmed by people's generosity and will be forever grateful to all those who have shown such kind support for this amazing charity. We couldn't have made this happen without you all, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Grace, Bridget and I will be joining 40,000 people and running the Bupa Great Manchester Run on Sunday 18th May.

We will be pounding the streets of Manchester in aid of Friends For Leisure - a fantastic local charity that is very close to our hearts.

The charity

FFL - as it is affectionately known - is a voluntary organisation in Cheshire East that helps disabled children and young individuals. It arranges activities from one-to-one friendships through to group activities, such as drama and sports sessions, for children and young people aged 5 to 21.

It works hard to address issues such as social exclusion, and raise awareness of disability and the importance of equality and inclusion.

Why we're doing this

As many of you will know, the charity has been an enormous support and a source of great enjoyment throughout Grace's childhood. Now that she has outgrown the organisation, we want to say thank you for all they have done - not only for Grace, but all of the youngsters around Cheshire East, whose lives have been touched by the work of FFL and its team of volunteers, who are nothing short of awesome.

The charity's Hot 100 challenge is aiming for 100 people to raise £100 each in 100 days. This is why we were aiming to raise at least £300, but thanks to the kindness of friends and family we neared that target after just a few extremely generous donations, so we're looking to raise a few more pennies for this amazing organisation.
