Hello,

My name is Ina Tuite Ferris, sister of the late Stocky O'Mahony who died of Motor Neurone Disease, 6 years ago at the age of 72. At 75 myself I have decided to shave my lovely locks on the last Sunday in May to raise much needed funds.

Regardless of the pandemic, MND is still with us and sadly no cure, no vaccine for this. Fundraising is so difficult in these uncertain  times. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated! Words cannot describe the gratitude my family and I have for all those who helped Stocky on his journey. It's now our chance to help all those suffering from this deadly disease.

The event will be taking place on Sunday May 30th. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions we will be unable to have anyone attend in person. However, we will be live streaming the event and will share details of the stream closer to the time.

Stocky had no interest in the trappings of wealth or material possessions, he just seemed to collect friends; he had them everywhere. I am appealing to you his friends to help us donate to this very worthy cause. This one's for you Stocky, we miss you everyday; life is not the same without you!

Thanks for all your contributions,

Love Ina

About the charity

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind in the country providing specialised services to families affected by this terminal condition. The Association cannot slow the progression of MND or change the outcome but we can alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration. We offer consistent support to approximately 400 families across Ireland who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn. Everybody with MND has different needs at different stages of their journey and we are here to help and guide them every step of the way. The services provided by the IMNDA are immediate and free of charge for everyone registered with the Association. Key services include: • Access to 4 outreach nurses directly employed by the IMNDA and funded entirely by donations. • Access to a home care grant. • Access to specialised equipment on loan (e.g. wheelchairs, hoists, communication aids etc). • Access to funding towards counselling sessions for the person with MND and family members. Your support is absolutely vital. More than 86% of our income comes from fundraising and donations.
