When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

This year I lost one of the most important people in my life, the strongest women I knew, the person that had always been there, never too far away. My nanny passed away in August after a six year battle of the effects of her stroke which she had in 2012. Like the 10,000’s of stroke patients in the UK she was left with long lasting damage which in the end was too much for her body to take. The Stroke Association are the only UK-wide charity supporting stroke survivors of all ages, and they give on-going support to survivors, and their families or people whose loved ones are no longer here due to having a stroke, as well as working tirelessly to raise awareness and research. All donations go a long way and help others in need.
