In 2015 we published a scientific study called The Killing - which identified that more than 25 million birds are illegally slaughtered in the Mediterranean region each year. 

With the help of funding from thousands of supporters who responded to our Keeping the Flyway Safe Appeal, we have already started tackling illegal killing in three key hotspots; the Famagusta area in Cyprus, the Menbej-Tishreen Dam area in Syria and the El Manzala area in Egypt. Staggeringly, in each of these places, more than half a million birds are being illegally slaughtered every year.

While action is already underway, we now need to increase our response here and in many other hotspots too. Before it is too late.
