We support people out of homelessness to help them regain their independence

Story

Following on from our successful Three Peaks and Welsh 3000's Challenges, which previously raised over £13,000 combined for local charities, St Oscar Romero Catholic School has now set their sights on a new target...The Wainwright's, where they will be trekking up the highest peaks, this time in England's Lake District, to support Turning TIdes.

Turning Tides is the largest provider of support for homeless men and women in West Sussex. For over 28 years, the charity has continued to grow and develop a wide range of services to meet the individual needs of those accessing their support. Turning Tides believe that everyone has the right to a home and supports people at every stage in their journey out of homelessness. The charity brings together compassionate individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to transform the lives of people in the local community.

The mountain challenge itself will be exhausting, but a memorable feat, in some of the most stunning backdrops in England. Although, it should in no way be underestimated. The challenge covers a distance of around 37km, as well as a height climbed in excess of 4000m, alongside the weather and terrain having their own part to play.

The selected group of 16 students, and 6 staff, will carry out this challenge between Thursday 9th and Sunday 12th June 2022, and the fundraising is already well underway! Please look out for how you can get involved and donate to an extremely worthy cause. There will also be events taking place in school, such as; Staff vs Student events, Year 10/11 Sponsored Sleepout, Year 7/8 Stopover, amongst various other opportunities we will be tapping into, like bag packing at supermarkets for instance.

If you could help contribute to this amazing charity, by any means possible, it would be gratefully received. You can either donate using this JustGiving page or go to the school website www.stromeros.co.uk and click on the link to Wisepay, and then click on fundraising.

Wish us luck!
