Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Many of you know all too well by now that our journey to starting a family has been far from simple and full of heartbreak.
For those of you that don't know our story, I'll do a little re-cap...
We began trying for a baby in August 2014. By January 2015 we were pregnant and over the moon, but sadly we had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks.
By June, we were pregnant again, although this time more anxious than excited. Those first 12 weeks were agonising, but once the 12-week scan came along and we saw that heartbeat and wriggling baby, our anxieties settled and we were full of excitement again. At 20 weeks, we found out our little boy was measuring worryingly small for gestation, and got referred to the Placenta Clinic at St Mary’s, Manchester.
At 23 weeks, we met the consultant and were given the heart breaking news that our baby was unlikely to survive as the placenta was not functioning very well. Two weeks later, our son died 25 weeks. Guy was delivered naturally 2 days later on Friday 13th November 2015, weighing 265g.
We have sadly gone on to have 2 further miscarriages, and despite various NHS and private testing, we are no closer to finding out the cause of our recurrent losses.
We are fundraising for Tommy's because they fund vital research into Miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. This is something which is very close to our hearts, and will no doubt help many people bring home a baby safely. Tommy's and the health professionals who work in partnership with them have also been an amazing support network to us. We will be forever thankful to them and wish to give as much back as possible.
Thank you for donating to our page. Your support means more than we can put into words. You are helping us, and Tommy's, save babies lives. We couldn't be more grateful.
Lots of Love,
Sam, Martin and Guy
