Sponsored Walk, Run, Bike, Swim..... · 1 February 2021

In 1921, over nine million poppies were created and sold on 11 November. Today, over five million Scottish poppies are still made by hand by disabled ex-Servicemen & ex-Servicewomen at Lady Haig's Poppy Factory each year distributed by Poppyscotland.

Story

We couldn't help with the Scottish Poppy Appeal last year due to Covid. We are hoping to help this year, and this sponsored walk, run, bike, swim will make up for the funds we couldn't raise last year.

We are each aiming to travel the distance from Lanarkshire to Amiens, 560 miles, between the 1st February and the 11th November. We will ask our family, friends and community to help us reach our target of £1921 by sponsoring us and keeping us motivated.

The Scottish Poppy Appeal raises over £2 million each year. Poppyscotland was established in 1921 as The Earl Haig Fund Scotland but adopted their current name and logo in 2006 to reflect their revised fundraising activities and welfare services work. In June 2011 Poppyscotland merged with their sister charity The Royal British Legion (TRBL), which operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to form the largest charity group supporting the Armed Forces community across the whole of the UK. Poppyscotland continue to operate as a distinct charity within the TRBL group of charities, relying entirely on public donations to allow us to continue our life-changing work.
