Story
I ran the London Marathon in 2018 for Alzheimer's Research UK because I had been given a diagnosis of vascular dementia in Sept 2014. I have been fortunate enough to live well for the last 11 years. Running has been a good way to manage my cardio vascular risk and although I don't enjoy the actual running I like how it makes me feel. I lost my partner of 32 years, Sheila, in August 2024. I moved from rural Herefordshire to East Sussex. I don't recommend grief as a diet but I have lost weight and decided that I need a new challenge. So I am running the London Marathon again in April 2026. This time I won't be carrying the weight of a 4year old! . Alzheimer's Research UK give me hope that we can find a cure.
I will be 70 in 2026 and my fundraising to date for ARUK is just over £68,000- it would be wonderful to get to £70k in my 70th year.
I would be so grateful if you could spare a bright shiny pound to help my effort. #foracure
