I've set myself the challenge of walking 400km (250 miles) over 30 days in June to raise money for Stockdales. That's the equivalent of walking from Manchester to Exeter. It's a pretty long 'stroll', but I'm up for the challenge!

You might wonder why I'm doing such a big distance. During the lockdown period, I've had more time on my hands and have done loads of walking, which I've enjoyed a lot. I've also been a supporter for many years; personally, through my business, Chartis PC and as the Chair of Wythenshawe Town Football Club, who adopted Stockdales as their Charity in 2019. I want to raise much needed funds for them.

You might already know, but in case you don't - Stockdales helps children and adults with learning disabilities, life-limiting conditions and complex health needs to live life as regularly as possible, helping them to have the same experiences as everyone else. And they've been doing this since 1953!

As you will know, the Coronavirus has had a massive impact on charities all over the country. Stockdales is no exception. They have kept their essential residential services running safely throughout this challenging time. And they have offered support from a distance to the people they would normally help through their other services. It's not been an easy time for them.

But there is another challenge too. Stockdales normally puts on several events a year to help them raise much needed funds for special projects like their kids club and Dream Days. Then there's specialist equipment, transport and capital projects like the conversion and refurbishment of their 5th residential home.

It looks like most, if not all, of their events will be cancelled this year because of Covid-19. I want to do my bit to make sure they have enough funds to keep on doing what they do best. They are such a  valuable resource for so many people and their families.
