Story

Hello and thank you for visiting our team fundraising
page for The Three Peaks challenge.

As you may well know a very close friend of ours, Fi, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (Rhabdomyosarcoma) in 2015. Earlier this year an extraordinary fundraising effort was launched on GoFundMe in order to try and provide her with immunotherapy treatment and as part of these fundraising efforts some of Fi's closest friends decided to take on some serious challenges.

Sadly, Fi lost her battle in May of this year before she was able to take advantage of this treatment. However, we are all continuing the various challenges & fundraising efforts we planned.

In August, Sally and Abbie will be pedaling their way from Land’s End to John o’ Groats (link to their blog below!), Al and friends are doing Tough Mudder and a team of 10 of us, championed by Vanessa and Vicki are taking on The National Three Peaks challenge.

So on the 3rd of August Vanessa, Jonny, Vicki, Sandy, Laura, Toby, Pavla, Neil, Claire and Pip will be making their way up to Glasgow and carb-loading ahead of the 24 hour challenge which involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland against the clock.

This totals 23 miles and, with a complete ascent of 10,052 feet, is no easy task. A considerable portion of the hikes will be completed in the dark and any sleep (if we’re lucky!) will be in the minibus between the mountains.

In Fi's memory we will be fundraising for The Chris Lucas Trust - a charity set up to fund research into Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of soft tissue sarcoma, typically diagnosed in children under 10. With fewer than 60 cases diagnosed in the UK each year research into this type of cancer is very limited. However, since the formation of The Chris Lucas Trust, the money they have raised has allowed for two full time researchers at the ICR Marsden Sutton, Surrey.

Anything you feel able to donate towards this worthy cause will be hugely appreciated both by everyone involved and those who knew Fi. Your donations will provide us with a huge amount of encouragement on this challenge.

Thank You!
