Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Hill House is an internationally recognised masterpiece of early modern architecture that showcases how to turn art into a home. However, this unique building is under threat from being lost forever to the Scottish wind and rain.

For the 150th anniversary of Mackintosh’s birth, the National Trust for Scotland are planning to build “The Box” around this iconic property, whose sandstone structure is dissolving under its cement render. The Box will shield the house, allowing the building to dry out and for crucial conservation work to take place.

On Friday 18th  May I will set off from my home to cycle over 350miles to raise funds and awareness that I hope will help conserve this culturally significant house. This cycle will take me
from my home in Edinburgh through the south of Scotland to a few of the other properties cared for by the National Trust for Scotland, such as; Newhailes, St Abbs, Thomas Carlyles Birth Place and Culzean Castle.
