AbilityNet is a pioneering UK charity that provides free digital support to disabled adults and older people. Our vision is a digital world accessible to all. "I can do my appointments online now and know how to protect myself from scammers” - client supported by an AbilityNet Tech Volunteer

Story

On Sunday 19th October I'll be putting on my fastest pair of sports-clogs and running 26 miles around the streets of Amsterdam.

I'm hoping to raise £1,000 for AbilityNet, a small British charity that uses technology to improve the lives of disabled people. I got to know some of their team through my legal work on web accessibility and I have enormous respect for the work that they do.

The money raised would be used to buy equipment that allows someone with Motor Neurone Disease to navigate a computer by moving their head. That means that a person who has limited movement in their arms and hands and limited speech can use a computer to read books, communicate with friends and family and shop independently. A total of £1,043 would buy much-needed equipment for four people.

None of the money raised will subsidise my flights, accommodation or windmill souvenirs.

Any sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Struan
