We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Story

Could you do it? Could you live without your modern technology for a month?  @4pm June 14th while the FIFA World Cup kicks off i’m gonna be locking personal items including smart phone in a safe. They won’t be released until England are knocked out of the tournament. During this time I will live as if i was in 1990. No google, no facebook,no texting, no netficks, no bluetooth. I will discover whether it’s possible to live without all the things we use hundreds of times a day and all take for granted. Instead i will use landlines, libraries and just 4 tv channels.  Will i be liberated? Will i be bored? How will i get anything done? I’ll be writing a diary of the experience (with a biro) and describing the daily challenges. We are told that smart phones and social are driving us mad, I consider myself addicted, will i go mad without it?

This is not going to be easy and although it might not be running a marathon or climbing a mountain i consider this just as gruelling a challenge. Please sponsor me to raise money for the local Rethink support groups. Fylde Family Support that gives information and support to families struggling to find help for mental illness. Dog Walking Therapy that provides peer support and exercise whilst walking dogs. Vinyl Community that provides a compassionate environment to listen to music and also provides music therapy to The Harbour Psychiatric Hospital.

And why 1990?  well it was the last time most of us thought that England might actually win a World Cup. By transporting myself back there i may rediscover the belief that we can do it again!
