At Macmillan, we will move mountains to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can. We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Hello. I recently wrote a book that in part detailed my mum's terminal cancer diagnosis two years ago. Six weeks after the book was published, mum died.

Throughout mum's final months, we found the assistance of Macmillan nurses very useful. I wanted to do something to remember her while raising money for them.

I didn't want to run, because I hate running. I didn't want to ride a bike, because my bike is made of wood and I'm not entirely sure how to mend punctures. So instead I'm walking all the way around the outside of the Isle of Wight, in an event that's likely to take more than 24 hours.

I guarantee that I will regret this less than 20 minutes in, so I need you to guilt me into completing the walk by donating. It'll keep me on the hook, the money will be very useful to Macmillan and it'll all be in memory of a very brilliant woman who I miss horribly.
