Story
I am attempting the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 bike ride on 4 August which will be a real challenge; I am a novice at cycling and the route runs for 100 miles from the Olympic Park through the rolling Surrey Hills before finishing near Buckingham Palace.
I am taking on this challenge in aid of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust which was set up in 1997 in memory of Charlie Waller, a young man who took his own life whilst suffering from depression. The Trust provides mental health training and resources to schools, universities, workplaces, GPs and nurses, encouraging people to get help to care of their mental health. Their work with children and young people is crucial as 75% of all mental illness starts before the age of 18, but if problems are spotted early, outcomes are better. In 2018 for example they delivered 770 talks and training sessions on mental health and wellbeing to 47,253 pupils, parents and teachers.
The Trust aims to make the biggest possible impact for every pound raised and any contribution however small will be helpful. I hope you can support me in this very worthwhile cause.
Thanks,
Stuart
