Story

Since the formation of the RIFLES on the 01 Feb 2007 62 Rfn have lost their lives in Iraq & Afghanistan alone, with many more suffering life changing injuries, PTSD and other issues later on in life.

Care for Casualties was initiated in early 2009 to raise funds in order to assist those members of the Rifles Regimental family who were found to be in need, arising predominantly as a result of the Regiment’s almost continuous involvement in enduring operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Care for Casualties provides the severely wounded, their families and the families of our fallen Riflemen the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures in wider society.

Care for Casualties isn’t only about funding, we also receive offers of help in kind such as holidays, advice, jobs and training which taken together can inspire self-sufficiency and hope.

In the words of one supporter, “It’s not just the soldiers who serve, it’s their families too and we owe it to them to look after them all.”

I am currently deployed on Operations with the RIFLES. After returning from tour I intend to complete the following 4 Ultra marathons in 6 months between the end of June 19 and the beginning of Jan 2020.

1 -The Kong 10 Peaks in the Lake District on Sat 29 Jun 19.

2 - Lakes in a Day in the Lake District on Sat 12 Oct 19.

3 - Montane Cheviot Goat in the Cheviot hills Northumberland on Sat 07 Dec 19.

4 - The Spine Race between Sun 12 - Sun 19 Jan 2020.

All events will be completed within the allocated timeline in aid of Care for Casualties the RIFLES charity.
