Story
Stuart Degville of Shelfield, Walsall is training for a triathlon in the name of a local charity, ‘Brake’.
Stuart Degville, Fat Loss Coach at Cannock’s Fat Burner Bootcamp aims to raise money for the Charity, ‘Brake’, which supports victims of dangerous driving and other road accidents and incidents. Stuart will be competing in 2 triathlons this year, the first in Birmingham Sutton Park on Sunday 23 July, and then another in Stratford on Sunday 29th September.
After getting in touch with Freedom Cycles in Lichfield, his quest in finding a new bike was about to get a little freaky, but was it fate?
“I signed up to do a triathlon to give myself a challenge”. Stuart said. “So after looking into bikes suitable for my challenge on the internet, I rang freedom cycles to ask for some advice, after looking at the bikes I had my eye on, Debbie from Freedom Cycles got in touch to say she may have another option for me, but she needed to chat to me and tell me how she came to have this used bike for sale. She told me a story that touched my heart.
Towards the end of summer 2012 a guy bought this bike from freedom cycles, he rode it a few times over the next month, even popping in the shop to see her when on his rides to tell her how much he loved his new bike and that he'd found a new passion in life.
The bike was then put away for the winter. Unfortunately in December 2012 this guy and his dog were out walking when they were run down and killed by a drunk driver. The guy was Stuart Blackwell from Lichfield.
Initially this did freak Stuart out a little, a man with the same name as his and both with dogs that almost have the same name, Austin and Oscar, a strange coincidence?, and did he really want this bike that comes with such a tragic tale?
After a little thought I decided I ought to look at this bike, if I like it I have a bike for the triathlon, I've contributed to a very good cause as the money I spend on it goes to the charity ‘Brake’ and I've made the Blackwell family happy in doing so, and now I have a charity for which I'll get sponsored to do the triathlon.
I did go and check out the bike, I bought it, and now I have a charity to complete the triathlon for.”
Could it be fate??
I think it could!
