Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A few years back whilst delivering training in Abu Dhabi I contracted Meningitis. It became a horrendous journey for my family and me. After a week in a coma I awoke finding myself prostrate in a strange place and slowly worked out it was a hospital. I was completely flummoxed by it. I then spent three weeks in hospital in Abu Dhabi and after a flight home (Stretcher flight- and that's another story) I ended up in Leeds Hospital for a further 3 weeks. I eventually left and was transferred home, unable to walk and having lost a lot of muscle. I was weak yet determined to make a recovery.
Along with the Meningitis was sepsis and a host of other issues.
My recovery is down to the support and encouragement I had from family and friends. My close family, especially my wife taking the brunt of the impact of this disease.
So this year I thought its about time to give a little back. And here we are. Those that know me will agree that I would struggle to self-identify as a runner. BUT, and it is a huge BUT, I want to do this and so I have put in place a training programme helped by Liz Blizzard at the Valley Clinic and am determined to get there.
If you can add a few quid to the total I will be very grateful
Thanks
