On the 17th september 2009 myself and 6 other student nurses are going to a deprived village in Kenya called Ndhiwa with an organisation called Kenya Accorn Project. We are going on a 4 week placement to work and help out in the community hospital there and also in the nurserys and schools there to teach the children the importance of keeping clean, looking after themselves and basic health promotion which our children in this country get all the time.

we are going to see what it is like to live in an area where there isnt the things that we take for granted here in the UK like basic cooking and washing facilities, deprived hospitals with limited resources, lack of understanding on basic hygiene, huts for homes, no electricity and limited water. 

I feel it is a great opportunity as a student nurse to be going to such a deprived area and offering our help in many ways including fund raising for the village of Ndhiwa and would greatly appreciate any contributions towards the kenya Accorn Project which will go into help with resources and building work and much more.
