London to Southend Bike Ride - July 2010 · 18 July 2010

The Robert Levy Foundation was set up in remembrance of Robert Levy who lost his life whilst trying to save a young child being threatened with a knife. The aim is to highlight & address the issues surrounding knife crime. Through events & work within the community young people can be encouraged to find appropriate ways to become better citizens. Thus preventing further loss of life.

Story

Yay we did it! Huge congratulations to Karin, Pat & Nina who made it seem so easy and special congratulations to my nephew Zach who managed to complete the whole ride on a BMX no less!! He came off his bike and hurt himself and carried on, his bike broke and yet he carried on! Truly hardcore :) He even managed to complete the ride 1/2hr ahead of me. As for me I barely hung on to the handlebars but made it through to the finish line and all of us completed before dark.

A hearty thank you to those who have been so generous and to those who are about to donate. The reason why we made ourselves do the ride is below....

***Well I've been persuaded to take up the challenge once again and do the London to Southend 59 mile bike ride. So I decided to drag Karin and Zach with me :)  I don't know what kind of time we'll do (and I'm not taking any bets on it either) as the training has been rather hit and miss but hopefully we'll get to Southend and back before it gets dark.

We'll be riding on behalf of the Robert Levy Foundation and hopefully you'll be able to find some spare change and donate it to this worthwhile cause. If you haven't heard of the Robert Levy Foundation they are a worthwhile charity that was set up by the parents of the late Robert Levy, a 16 year old boy who on the 16th September 2004 was killed whilst whilst trying to help a younger boy. The charity was set up to highlight the issues surrounding knife crime and through events and school mentoring programmes help young people find better ways to become better community members and citizens. If you need to know more then please visit their website at www.robertlevyfoundation.org.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and think of us on the 18th July slogging through miles and miles of countryside on a narrow bike....

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks,

Su, Karin & Zach
