Story

When our amazing friend Helen asked us who wanted to join her in trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro it didn't take us long to say yes! Six ladies (including Helen & ourselves) are taking part in this fantastic adventure and we leave in less than 3 weeks.

Whilst this is a personal challenge for Sue and I, to climb to the summit of the highest mountain in Africa (which we are self funding), we also wanted to try and raise some money for a charity very close to our hearts.

As you know our Dad lives with a physical disability, as a result of an accident over 20 years ago. He now lives in Devon and gives back to his local community as much as he can. He joined a local charity, ACE, not long after his arrival and spends much of his time fundraising to support others with disabilities. Unfortunately there is never enough money to support those that really do need it the most.

As such we'd love to help Dad and give back to those in our society that need it. ACE is a small, local charity that serves disabled adults in the Torbay (Devon) area, giving them a focal point, a place to learn, to meet like-minded people and spend time away from their homes. It makes a real difference in their lives and the life of our Dad who makes ACE his home every week!

So whilst Sue and I will be attempting to trek to 5,895m over 7 days, camping each night, with no hot showers, thoughts of helping others will keep us motivated.

Thank you for visiting and reading our Justgiving page and hopefully sponsoring a good cause! It would mean a lot to us and our family, and we promise we won't bore you too much with the photos when we get back!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Any amount helps!
