Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I welcome any support you can offer me as I embark on my 2015/2016 running challenge.
Many of you know my brave sister successfully fought breast cancer last year and my Dad lost his life to cancer at the age of 54 in January 2001. Sadly this year, we also lost Simon's sister Cath, who showed such positivity and determination to hold her third grand child and passed away shortly after. She spent most of her career caring for others and looking after terminally ill patients. We've lost many other relatives and friends, who I know are dearly missed, so this is a very personal challenge for me and in tribute of all our loved ones.
I'm sure like me many of you have family members that have been cared for or helped by MacMillan at some point in time. They work tirelessly in the background providing advice and practical help and support to many families dealing with this terrible disease. In the past my fundraising has been for Cancer research, but this charity can make a difference by directly touching the lives of those affected. I've set my target at an ambitious £5000 which involves a huge physical challenge, strict training and a change to my diet - you know how hard that will be!
My fundraising starts with the Birmingham Half Marathon - two days before my birthday (Sunday 18 October) supporters very welcome. Then onto the London Marathon in 2016. So please support me by donating to this worthy cause. Any amount is gratefully received. It doesn't need to be a lot, just the price of that Coffee or bottle of wine, something you wont miss could make such a difference to others and you don't even have to leave your chair! Update 22/10/15 just added the Silverstone Half Marathon to that list - 13 March 2016.
