Lion-hearted Walking for White Lions · 15 May 2017

White lions are almost extinct in the wild and 90% of golden lions were wiped out in our lifetime. If we don't act lions could be extinct in the wild in LESS THAN 10 YEARS The Global White Lion Protection Trust is Creating a Lion-Hearted World where Lions, Land and People live in Natural Harmony

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

This year I am raising awareness and funds for The Global White Lion Protection Trust. And I'm doing it by walking...walking...walking...

(Last year I asked for support to raise awareness of and  funds for decent toilets and sanitation through Toilet Twinning - and many gave generously. Thank you!)

White lions are not albino lions - they are a sub-species of their own. I was blown over when I read Linda Tucker's book about them! This is a story not only of vital conservation and protection work, of educating and empowering local communities,  but also of ancient links we all have to Africa, our inspirational links to the stars, and to the deep heart mystery that weaves us through and through to the earth and land - whatever region of the world we find ourselves living in.

I found there were uncanny links with these White Lions on a number of levels to various parts of my own life and work. This was something very far away (I have never been to South Africa) and yet very close within my heart.

Intuitively I sense that there is something we are being asked to stop and be aware of when any truly white animal comes to our attention. We will each have an individual take on what that is. We are all in community together to ensure that we do the best we can for all life on earth now and for generations to come.

This walk I am committing to is to raise awareness and funds for the White Lions both as a personal commitment and an opportunity to spread the word about what, at times, can be a dire situation faced by these magnificent beings - which ultimately impacts on all of us.

I shall be walking my usual walks - in the countryside around my home, in the towns and cities I visit, the hills I climb, and the day to day stepping about. I aim to walk a minimum of 500 miles by the end of 2017. Within the first week of getting my pedometer I have walked 31.2 miles...so there's a chance I will meet my target!

As I walk I will dedicate my steps to this White Lion awareness and how it might unfold beneficially for all. Walk with me!  Open your heart (and your wallet if you feel you can) to The White Lions of South Africa!

Here's more about The Global White Lion Protection Trust (GWLPT):

“Founded in 2002, by Linda Tucker, the GWLPT is a South African registered non profit organisation and operates in a remote protected area in the epicentre of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere. It heads up a groundbreaking scientific conservation project under the direction of lion ecologist Jason Turner, that reintroduces the critically endangered White Lions back to their natural endemic habitat. Simultaneously, it operates as a rural development programme in support of the area’s indigenous communities, which includes the StarLion Programme for local schools, currently working with around 5000 children, helping empower the next generation by reigniting the children by teaching the 13 Laws of LionHearted Leadership. You can find out more about the trust’s work by visiting http://whitelions.org and http://lindatuckerfoundation.org”
