Haywood Bike Ride Challenge · 19 May 2011

Set up in 1977 by Dr Ted Hothersall, our charity is dedicated to helping people in North Staffordshire with arthritis and related conditions.

Story

On the 19th May 2011, 20 lecturers, clinicians, and friends, from Keele University, the Haywood Hospital and the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke-on-Trent are cycling across the UK from coast-to-coast to raise money for two local charities - the Haywood Foundation and Douglas Macmillan Hospice. These two charities support research and care for people with arthritis and cancer, two conditions that will surely affect everyone in some way, at some point in their lives.

The cycle ride is from Whitehaven to Newcastle-upon-Tyne - 140 miles in 3 days - over the Lake District, over the Pennines, and down to Tynemouth.
