Story

These are words from Fred Wetekhela, the member of our church in Namisindwa, who is running this orphanage. I (Sue) was with him for 2 weeks in July, and he was telling me how desperately short of money he is. They are really in need of long term support, but if we can help ease the burden by raising funds by running this half marathon, then that will be so helpful to him. I know that at least one child has died from malnutrition because Fred cannot afford to feed them all..... So please read on.....
The school, called Namisindwa Day Nursery, is situated in the east of Uganda, in the Mt Elgon mountain range at Makenya village, Bunamulingi Parish, in Bukokho Sub County. The school started in 2008 and was being led by Wetekhela Fred and the Christadelphian Community at large. The actual nursery is held in the rented Namisindwa church hall.
It started with 23 children and two teachers. Funding is required for a regular limited Child sponsorship programme and Nutrition support programme to be funded via the school and committee. Funding is requested to contribute to total of £2,554 to improve the running of the school for 2012. The on-going running costs of the school will be £2500-£3000 per year.
This is a voluntary work organised by members of the Christadelphian faith to provide nursery education, books and pens, to focus on nutrition and to set an example of God’s love to those who are contacted.
There are now 45 children and six teachers.
Through additional community contribution, children were physically given free books and pens because most of these children come from needy families and others are orphans, whose parents died of HIV/Aids.
