Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

My father was diagnosed with lung and throat Cancer in September of last year. Every month came more troubling news and the knowledge that his cancer was inoperable and palliative care was the only route to take. His cancer was a truly awful surprise and it being aggressive in nature affected our whole family. So many people and worthy charities were involved in Dad's care during these last months of his life. On the 16th of January Dad was admitted into the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough. Dad spent the last three weeks of his life there and I can't thank them enough for the wonderful care they provided, not only for Dad, but for myself, my brother and mother and our whole family. They were truly like walking angels. Dad spent his 85th birthday in the hospice and the staff decorated Dad's room and had birthday celebrations with us. Dad passed away peacefully on the 6th of February.

I hope that through this fund raising that other families in a similar position to ours can benefit from the care that we were provided with.
