Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, like many churches St. Mark's was built a long a time ago and it now needs a bit of attention to ensure that we are welcoming and accessible for all without spoiling the character and history of the place.
We have been working for quite a while now on plans to put an accessible toilet at the back of church, to refit the kitchen and make it part of the scheme of work, and to redesign our doors and entrance to make sure everyone can access the building safely, especially people with wheelchairs or prams. To do all of this we need to raise quite a lot money - about £110,000 in total! We hope to raise much of that from grants but have committed to raising at least £25,000 ourselves in a variety of ways.
As there are so many people with heartbreaking life situations seeking to raise funds I felt I really should do something 'spectac -loo-lar' for our project and as I am full of admiration for those members of my family that climb pylons everyday for a living I felt this would be a worthy challenge and a tribute to everyone who does this for their job.
It will be a challenge as I don't have a head for heights and will find 'getting back down' the hardest part of all!
