Last year was the most frightening and yet also the one in which I realised we have to make the most of every day and be grateful for what we have. I am one of the lucky ones as I am blessed with the most wonderful family and friends who helped me to stay strong through my toughest ever ordeal. There are others who have not been so lucky and because of the aggressive indiscriminate way cancer strikes they will not be strong enough to join us. 

This year I will run the Plymouth Hoe Race for Life in June. I will remember Des, my dad and the mothers of my friends who fought so hard for so long. A young father from Bristol who like me was diagnosed but has not been as fortunate and John who has just started his treatment  for throat, tonsil and tongue cancer despite never having smoked! 

I pushed myself to the limit and managed to complete the race in 40 minutes. Not a record breaking speed but for me, considerably faster than last year! 

Thank you so very much to everyone who sponsored me, I am truly grateful to be able to give something back that may help others in the future! 

We have got to show cancer that it will not continue to take the lives of our loved ones, the best way to do this is to fund research! 

Should you wish to donate I would be truly grateful but intend to raise money for Derriford's Primrose and oncology departments as they were faultless in their care.  Online donations will be for cancer Research UK. Should you prefer, the Primrose Unit Derriford, St Luke's  and Oncology at Derriford are all worthy so please donate to the cause that means the most to you.
