Open Sight Hampshire provides a lifetime of support to visually impaired people of all ages and their families and associates, and delivers expertise in every aspect of sight loss.

Story

I am proud to say that I am the Chairman of Open Sight, who for nearly a century has been providing life changing support for adults, children and families affected by sight loss.

When Open Sight was successful in the London Marathon ballot, David McKeigue, our CEO, asked me whether I would run for the charity.   It's a big commitment, but never thought would have the chance to run in the London Marathon, so I agreed.

Do you know one in four children aged between 5 and 12 suffer from an undiagnosed sight problem which may be detrimental to their ability to learn and their performance at school?  Protecting our eyes is something that should be taught to children at a young age, just like brushes your teeth or healthy eating.  As a mum of two children Isabella aged 11 and Cayden aged 7, I know how important this is.

Please support me in my attempt to raise £6,000 to provide Eye Health Education presentations to 12,000 primary school children across Hampshire.

Currently I run socially with my friends and we have managed to work up to running 10 miles, recently taking part in the Gosport half marathon.

Your donations will spur me on through my training and on to the 26 mile finish line.
