"Poverty tears many families apart in rural India when villagers are forced to migrate to urban centers to look for work. Although India has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, 25.7% of the rural population still lives below the poverty line. There are more illiterate people in India than in any other country in the world. Women are impacted the most: one woman out of three is illiterate, and education is rarely prioritized for girls, leaving them without the skills they need to earn an income to support their families. "

This year for my birthday I have decided to do something different and ask my friends and family to help support a cause I find a profound interest in. Any donation helps, and all proceeds will go to the charity listed above. It will remain up and open until my birthday which is on June 22.
