Cat Queen Appeal
Campaign by Cats Protection (RCN 203644, SC037711)
Did you know pregnant cats are called queens? This summer we are asking you to help support our cat queens to give them the extra care they need to give birth safely and be looked after, along with their kittens, before we find them their new homes.

Story

Here is the story of the beautiful senior mum May and her little kitten April.
We had a lovely member of the public reach out to us for help with a cat she described as ‘aging’ and her little kitten. The reporting lady seemed to think that the old lady further along the street had sadly passed away and the council had simply placed May outside to fend for herself.
Now, as May had always been a house cat, the old lady had obviously never had her neutered, as she probably felt there was no need.
But as a result of that, and sadly inevitable, May became pregnant as a senior cat of approximately 8-10 years old, as aged by our vet friends.
May only had one kitten in the dilapidated old shed in the garden and hid her really well. It was one or two weeks before the lady noticed May in her garden and maybe another week before she realised May had a kitten!
So she did the right thing and called Coventry Cats Protection to help her, and that we did.
May was a super mum to her single kitten and they were so very, very close to each other that it was truly beautiful to watch. We did originally think that they would have to be homed together, but as soon as April reached her equivalent terrible twos, May changed our minds!!
May was homed to live with an older gentleman living on his own. He’d had his beloved cat pass away some months before and was feeling quite lonely. May had since filled this gap and they have lovely days together in the garden sunshine and relaxing evenings watching television in bed.
May’s kitten April was homed to a lovely couple too and has since become best friends with their little boy.
A lovely ending from such a sad beginning. Money truly couldn’t buy what you get from helping needy cats like May.

Our appeal is to help give every cat mum who needs that extra special. Your contribution will make an impact. A £5 donation will feed a hungry cat mum like May with specialist food for 25 days. £20 will provide a safe and comfortable place to give birth and £50 will provide a cat or kitten with veterinary treatment to help get them ready for a new home.

Thank you for your support, for cats like May
