Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Sunday girls  JustGiving page.

We are going to do a charity ride to raise funds for Cancer Research, in memory of Susan Helliwell , a true ‘Sunday Girl’ who sadly lost her battle with cancer aged 55 years young, in March 2018.

We promised a ride to keep her memory alive and raise valuable funds for a charity close to Sues heart. (Cancer research).

We are doing a memorial ride for every year of Sues life which would be a 55 mile cycle.

As a ladies only cycling club we wanted to do something good and raise valuable funds for a much needed charity.

Our club members will be challenging their endurance, fitness and stamina by cycling at least 55 miles .  Some ladies have only ever cycled short distances (5miles to work) so the extra miles is where the challenge lies.

The ride is supported by the Sunday Girls Road Club (women’s only cycling club in Hull,East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire).  The ride will have qualified and competent leaders to lead the route and ensure everyone has a great day and lots of funds raised in memory of one of our True Sunday Girls, Susan Helliwell.

Sue was with the club for only a year but in that time she had made a huge impact on the ladies in the club, with her zest for life and amazing determination to push herself to achieve anything. She was an amazing lady who’s smile, laughter and enthusiasm was infectious.

Sue married her long term partner Paulo  in Jan 2018 us sadly passed away in March 2018  from secondary cancer which was only diagnosed few months before.

She will be sadly missed by many but her memory will live on for years to come.

We mentioned this to Paulo (sues husband) and her mum, Mary, who were touched by this , so let’s make it a ride to remember Sue, who was full of life and certainly lived it to the full. (With her heavy city bike)😘🚲🚲🚴🏻

Please donate what you can as every penny counts in the fight to cure cancer, which I’m sure has touched everyone who is reading this now.

Many thanks in advance and let the fundraising begin.

Thank you from all of the Sunday Girls Road Club ladies.
