We are growing giant sunflowers to raise money for Rainbows in memory of Rhys Hughes. 

Rhys' mum and dad, Jenny and Pete, have both worked as part of #teamED at the LRI. The staff in the Children's ED know them both as colleagues and also from the many times we have helped care for Rhys. Rhys was born with a rare and life limiting condition and sadly passed away earlier this month at Rainbows Hospice. 

The CED team have been growing giant sunflowers the past few years (we're a competitive bunch!) and I thought it would be nice if we could grow them this year in memory of Rhys. As Jenny said when she sent me a photo for the gallery- "Rhys had the most beautiful smile and the most gorgeous little giggle. His face really did light up any room so sunflowers are so fitting."

I'll be providing a few seedlings to those at the LRI - if you are further afield buy some giant sunflower seeds and join the fun!
