Sunrise To Sunset 2014 · 21 June 2014

Every year, Cornwall Air Ambulance is tasked to around 1,000 missions, delivering fast and effective critical care to patients in their moment of need. As a charity, we need your help to raise over £9 million each year to keep the helicopter flying and the critical care team ready to respond

Story

Hello all.

In 2014 I will be doing another challenge to raise money for a good cause, this time for Cornwall Air Ambulance. On the 21st June 2014, the longest day of the year I will be taking on an endurance walk and race against the clock

Starting at sunrise, 5.09am from Truro Cathedral, I will set off on a 45 mile journey on foot with the aim of reaching the Tamar Bridge by 9.32pm, sunset. That's 16 hours and 23 minutes of tarmac pounding along quiet country roads, from Cornwall's capital to Cornwall's border. Although it is possible, it will mean averaging 2.7mph which is not easy for over 16 hours and doesnt factor in rest stops. This has not been my longest challenge or on the worst terrain but due to the time restraint is quite possibly the hardest challenge I have set myself to date. The challenge has be made harder by the fact I am walking west to east, when the sun is setting in the west, meaning I would have had 10 minutes longer available to do the walk if I walked the other direction.

The route will pass the following settlements: Pencalenick, Tresillian, Probus, Grampound, Hewas Water, Sticker, Trelowth, St Austell, St Blazey Gate, Par, Fowey, Bodinnick (via Ferry), Lanteglos Highway, Pelynt, Widegates, Hessenford, Trerulefoot, Tideford, Landrake, Saltash.

This is a cause that I have previously overlooked in my other challenges for charity but one many of us in Cornwall may well benefit from someday so please don't let my pain be in vain...be generous and donate via my page

or feel free to share this facebook page to spread the word.
Also if there is anyone who would like a challenge and would like to join me on the walk let me know!
