Hi Folks,

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Runners: Ian (feeling older than ?) Tim (13) Alexis (11) William (9) + approx 400 others.

Dear All, On the blog(below) I put my money on Wills to win, I thought he would do well, perhaps stopping on various occasions, having a walk for a few minutes and then off again. However I really thought Tim and our friend Alexis(age 11) would run long ahead and be waiting for Wills and I at the end. I knew Wills had good stamina from his bike riding but to run for 5 km is a different thing altogether, isn't it?

Well, after a group warm up we were off at a pace. No, Wills was off at a pace. My legs and body on the first small hill said no way are we going to keep this up for 5 km. Take it easy I shouted to Will. At 3/4 km  Will and Tim were 50yds ahead and stopped. Ok He's overdone it I thought and needed a rest, however just as I arrived, Wills was off. He had stopped for a drink. I needed to stay with him, so no drink for me! Will continued at pace, not a sprint, but a good steady run. No way was he going to continue this for another 4km. He did, stopping only for  drinks and one small absence. I have to say it was no easy job for me running at this pace so i  know he was going really quite fast for a 9 year old. He kept it up for the rest of the run. I was amazed at Wills determination and stamina, finishing I believe in about 27/28 minutes. Tim and Alexis were about 5 minutes behind.

As you may or may not know our youngest son William has a condition called Tuberous Sclerosis which in short is where small tubers grow in various organs in the body but more importantly in the brain. These Tubers interfere in normal brain activity resulting in epileptic seizures. As with any of these conditions they can be mild or severe.

The Tuberous Sclerosis association (TSA) supplies great support where needed and as importantly does research to find a cure and develops drugs to help control the seizures. William, Tim (my eldest)  and I are doing the Big Fun Run to raise money to help the TSA, so anything you can give will be much appreciated.

Our money is on William to finish first. Often called the Duracell kid, he keeps on going and going, as any of you who have been cycling with him will know.

Thanks in advance,

Ian, Debs, Tim & William.
