"During January 2006 my eldest daughter, Jasmine was diagnosed with Acute Kidney Failure, specifically a condition known as Henoch Sponlein Purpura (HSP) Nephritis.
Initially her prognosis was not a good one, but she fought very hard and with the support of both Nottinghamshire City Hospital and Doncaster Children’s Hospital she was extremely fortunate to make a full recovery. 10 months on she was back at school and doing all the things 10 year old girls do.
For many children however, this illness can lead to permanent Kidney failure. This means dialysis and in some cases transplantation. Having witnessed the effect Kidney failure can have on children at first hand my wife Jemma and I are determined to do all we can to help support medical research and development work the Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund are undertaking in this area.
