Story

Saturday 11th May 2019                                                                              The Badatch and Khatkar Family Tackle Mount Snowdon in Aid of  Parkinson's UK.

As many of you may know, our beautiful mother/grandmother, Surjit Kaur, suffered from Parkinson's for several years. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There are 3 main symptoms- tremor (shaking), slowness of movement and rigidity (muscle stiffness)- but there are many other symptoms too.

Surjit would have bad days where her hands would shake uncontrollably, or her knees would cause her so much pain that she was unable to walk. Around 3 years ago, as a result of the pain, Surjit became bed bound and required all round care.

Unfortunately, despite giving it her all to fight through this progressive condition, on 18th December 2018, Surjit passed away. Surjit's laughter, smile, determinations and strength kept her going till the very end, her family were there to support and care for her every step of the way.

The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350. Researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatment. Maybe one day, even a cure.

We want to help find this cure for Parkinson's and provide those suffering, with the care they need. We also want to help families with loved ones suffering from Parkinson's to get the support they need in providing the best care. This can be achieved with your help.

Surjit's family are coming together on the 11th May 2019 to raise money in aid of Parkinson's by walking up Mount Snowdon. We, therefore, ask kindly for a donation to the charity, however big or small, anything you give will make a difference.

Thank you for your time and generosity.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
