Hello Moon Bear Friends, welcome to our JustGiving page where you can read about what the Surrey&Hants Animals Asia Support Group is doing, where you can buy tickets to our events, donate directly or get involved with the Group - we will always love your help. Added Note: I cannot edit the total from that already donated online over the years, but please be aware we are starting at zero for this years events :-)
This is the place to buy your tickets for our next major event "The Gig In The Garden 5" on Saturday 31st August 2019 from 4pm, hosted by Ian and Mariana in their beautiful home in Leigh, Surrey.
"The Gig In The Garden 5" is our annual mini festival in the Surrey countryside, a night of fun and music. It is a very special evening hosted by Ian and Mariana at their home in Leigh and we've Ian also celebrating a very important birthday! Tickets cost £20 per person, though £5 for children of 10 and under, and include food on the evening. There will be a bar, silent auction, yummy veggie food, a few well chosen stalls and of course great dancing music from the returning "What If" charity band.
Now for the important bit: Please donate the correct amount for the number of tickets you require, £20 per ticket, £5 concession for children of 10 or under, and, in the comment, please confirm the number of tickets. We will get in touch to give you directions and parking info etc. By the way if you've not heard from us and you are worried just drop an email and we will make sure you are on the list and welcomed to the Gig :-)
UNTIL THE CRUELTY ENDS, your editor - Oliver xx
I will leave my email for the mom in case of questions: email@example.com
We started April 2014 and we've so far raised over £50,000 for Animals Asia. We had pledged to adopt one of the bears on a bear farm in Nanning, Southern China, which is being converted into a sanctuary by Animals Asia. We reached that particular £12,000 goal in a year (2015/6), the cost to NameABear, equivalent to a year of health checks, operations, rest, recouperation and general rescue!
Our sponsored bear, "Tranquility Kay" is now around 6 years old, she has a dark brown muzzle and a beautiful orange-y crescent. She was once a tad thin and had some bald patches from bar rubbing but AA are taking fantastic care of her and her fellow bears and she is already way more healthy - and her hair is growing back!! :-) Wonderful news...
Bear bile farming is cruelty in a league of its own. Not only are these bears confined to tiny cages, unable to move or stand on grass and tortured daily but this can go on for decades. Oliver, a brown bear rescued in 2010, spent the first 30 years of his life in a cage, unable to move or even grow properly. If we stop for a second and think about what we did in those 30 years it puts things into perspective a little. For anyone who is unfamiliar with bear bile farming please have a look at Animals Asia's website. Find out what it is and how Animals Asia is making a real difference www.animalsasia.org/uk/our-work/end-bear-bile-farming/
This page was set up by Oliver and the members of Surrey&Hampshire Borders Animals Asia Support Group and we will from time to time put up competitions, individual challenges and there will also be off-line donations and events. We hope that you will visit this page and maybe even come back more and more times as we endeavour to raise funds. We started the page in April 2014 with a £12,000 target which was achieved in 15 months. We then have continued to raise more and more money and of course, awareness of Animals Asia, from all our events; to end vile bile bear farming, to enhance the welfare of animals in zoos and parks, to end the cruel dog and cat meat trade, and, to make animal welfare a big issue across the world!
