Surviving Winter 2015 · 9 November 2015

Created by our communities, for our communities, to create the change our communities want to see. Making Devon’s wealth work harder, by making it work for everyone. Turning local giving into grants that change lives. And together, achieving more than any of us could alone.

Story

As the winter chill starts to be felt across the county, hundreds of families are faced with extreme fuel poverty. Pensioners visiting advice centres in Devon say they are afraid to turn on the heating – or being forced to make a choice between warmth and their next meal.

Devon Community Foundation are calling on anyone who receives the Winter Fuel Payment but does not need some or all of it, to donate it to Devon Community Foundation to help ensure older people in our communities stay warm and well this winter.

The campaign, associated with the UK-wide Surviving Winter appeal, is encouraging individuals to donate funds to help elderly and vulnerable residents across the county who are suffering throughout the winter due to high energy prices, lack of access to hot food and poor energy efficiency.
