3 years ago I became too wobbly to ride my bicycle and bought and with some trepidation learnt to ride an electric trike.

On 27th April 2020 I noticed that my mileometer had reached 3000 Kilometres. I decided to try to cycle 1,407 Kilometres or 874 miles (The distance from Lands End to John o Groats on roads you can cycle on) by the end of this year. All the pedalling but none of the hassle. A daft challenge but it makes people smile)

I shall be 74 in July and am no athlete. If I go for a walk I use 2 walking poles. The Kilometres are clocked up during my daily pre breakfast ride. My trike speaks to me only in kilometres (though I expect it would translate if i asked it nicely) Unfortunately my trike finds the nice flat cycle track boring so we usually head up the nearest hills & onto the moors. I am unbelievably slow on the hills, both down as well as up.! Though i am speeding up a bit.

I am very concerned about all the charities loosing out during the Lockdown. The Hospice does an excellent job and needs a lot of money to keep going.

For every pound raised I  added £1 up to £2000

I was keen to make progress whilst the days are long and there are fewer commitments. The second half of the ride was tougher Than the first because of the rain and the need to get up early to avoid the traffic.

I was delighted and surprised to reach my goal on 17th July. Half the time I expected!
