Story

2023 is the 30th year of the Mamie Martin Fund supporting Malawian girls to attend and complete secondary school. Girls have less access to education than boys, in Malawi, and are less likely to finish school. It is important to support girls so as to even up this situation and MMF have been doing that for 30 years now. Happy Birthday MMF.

In Scotland we  have access to clean, easily available water. Many reservoirs were built by visionary Victorian engineers to enhance public health. Not everyone is so fortunate.

During the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 I created a personal challenge to visit as many local reservoirs as travel restrictions allowed. There are some I'd like to revisit in 2023 and plenty of new ones to explore. I'm looking forward to sharing my photographs with MMF to raise awareness of, and maybe some money for, its important work.

We work with partners in North Malawi to support girls at 8 secondary schools. We pay the fees of these girls along with providing additional help to the most needy so that they can benefit from their school place. We've been working there since 1993, taking forward the vision of Mamie Martin.
