My husband, John, has Retinitis Pigmentosa, an eye disease which has caused him to go progressively blind. He cannot see anything now and his hearing is also impaired. However John's indomitable spirit, still resilient at 72, has caused him to pledge to walk the 36 miles of the Wilts canal path from Bradford-on-Avon to Froxfield with Luka his guide dog. Back- up and some guiding will be provided by myself and our friend, Mary.

Having a guide dog has given John independence and lots of friendship and affection from Paddy, his first dog, and now from Luka. Having a Guide dog is like a signal to others that you are blind and they also provide a bridge for communication.
